Fireworks 2021 FAQs
We are a charity (not a business) and not for profit. We have a huge outlay to put the display on. For this reason we cannot offer refunds on tickets. If for any reason we have to cancel (ie covid, bad weather) we will of course offer you a refund or you can donate your ticket price to our charity funds. Thank you for your understanding.
Thanks to the owners, we have secured 300ish spaces at the Fiserv multi-story on Paycocke Road, first come first served (this will be signposted and marshals will show you the way) We aim to have this open at 4pm.
Otherwise, as it is a Sunday the industrial estate will be empty and has lots of parking bays (be mindful of restrictions though as there are some restrictions in place)
We are expecting a lot of cars and pedestrians in the immediate area before and after the event so please take care and please use the pedestrian crossing provided. It may be easier to park a little further away and walk in - no better way to get your steps up and keep fit!
Please car share where possible.
If you leave plenty of time for parking you’ll arrive stress free and will enjoy the evening a whole lot more.
If you use this facility you must vacate the car park by 8pm or you’ll be locked in!
WHAT TO BRING:
Although the weather is looking absolutely fabulous for Sunday, please wrap up warm, remember ear defenders for young children who may not like the loud bangs, wear suitable footwear (you are in a field in November) and definitely leave your designer clothing at home. What goes up must come down and sometimes a change in wind direction can cause stray ash to fall.
All well as a fully licensed bar at the Leisure club, various hot food caterers on site, and a small funfair for little ones, for the 4th year running we have our sweet lady joining us, Childhood Memories, along with R&G Sweet Treats with their range of cake bakes and treats and our friends at Xpresso will be selling their usual range of quality barista coffees and speciality teas, with some seasonal specials. Light up novelties will be there too.
If any of these float your boat then bring some extra cash, or you can of course just come and enjoy Sonia and Smithy, our hosts from BBC Essex, listen to music from the fantastic DJ Mat and get right up the front for the best view of the amazing StarburstFX fireworks..... over £10,000 worth.
As far as we are concerned we are still full steam ahead for the display. At the moment the weather is looking perfect.
If anything changes we will post updates on our event/facebook page but we have never had to cancel any previous displays due to the weather. The weather is always kind to Basildon.
ENTERING and LEAVING :
We are expecting lots of people at our event and there is only one entrance and exit. Please be patient on entering. We have to scan tickets and this takes time. Please be patient with our volunteers who are all giving their time up for free. We will do our best to get you into the venue as quickly as possible.
Please arrive early and AVOID arriving after 6pm as the gates will be extremely busy at this time – we need everyone through the top gate by 6.15 - when we hope to start the display. We have to CLOSE THE GATE by 6.30pm as we turn the gate around for everyone to vacate after the display. We reserve the right to refuse entry after 6.30pm.
We expect the majority of people to leave at the same time after the display has ended. This will be a slow process because of the crossing we have had to put in place to get you safely across the road. We will try our very best to keep you all flowing but we may have to use a stop/start system for everyone’s safety. Please bear with us. Our Marshalls will do their very best to keep footfall flowing, with a smile on their face. It may be best to have another drink, or a ride on the funfair and leave just a little bit later.
Overall, just be patient as safety is our paramount priority - and we want everyone to feel safe.
WHAT “NOT” TO BRING:
We want everyone to have a fantastic and fun time tomorrow and there’s not a lot that’s banned really but for everyone’s health and safety we ask you do not bring fireworks, alcohol, drugs, weapons or sparklers to the event. These will have to be confiscated at the gate.
Also, please leave pets at home as no animals are allowed on site, for obvious reasons!
Thank you for your co-operation
WHAT PRECAUTIONS ARE IN PLACE FOR COVID?
Tickets have been limited this year to make more room on the field. They are also only being sold in advance. We advise people to wear a mask but this is not compulsory as the event is outdoors.
Please do not attend if you have symptoms of Covid – please offer your tickets to a friend or relative.
We appreciate your co-operation in these uncertain times.
